The requirements for the project and its genesis were the transformation of a 1920s apartment, which belongs to a building signed by the architect Francisco Prieto Moreno, into a short-term residence for a couple whose permanent house is between London and Singapore. They also needed the apartment to be an exhibition space for their art collection.

In the pursuit of a precise project definition, it is articulated as follows: the envisaged structure encompasses a two-story house featuring two distinct entrances, each leading to separate chambers. The residential floor is accessible via six stairs, while an additional set of six stairs grants entry from the yard to the basement floor, designed for storage purposes.

Kim Swoo-geun’s masterpiece “Space,” a building designed between 1971 and 1977 during South Korea’s military dictatorship, explores the identity of Korean architecture by using bricks both inside and outside, a common building material in the country. Next to the building, Jang Se-yang, one of his disciples, built an open-plan glazed building in 1997 as a symbol of a new era, creating a strong contrast and marking the area’s history. In 2014, a traditional Korean hanok was relocated to the site, and the brick building was converted to a museum, while the glass building was converted to a restaurant.

The MAHA HERmit Space is located within the central park of a high-end community in the core area of Beijing. It consists of three distinct areas “Islet Space,” “Cave Space,” and “Ravine Space.” The original site was three independent sunken courtyards in the underground parking lot of the community. BUZZ, while preserving the special value of the site, redefined them through three different design approaches, endowing the space with a completely new experience. This redesign aimed to strengthen its community and landscape attributes to meet the demands of a contemporary art space functioning as a composite content hub.

The pavilion for Yayoi Kusama will house two installations from the artist at Inhotim: I am here but nothing and Aftermath of obliteration of eternity, known for attracting a great quantity of people, that inevitably form long waiting lines. That way, the architectural design should respond not only to the sheltering of the art works, but also to the creation of a protected space for the wait and to the preparation of the public to the unique experience offered by the art.

Its complement is usually a building or public access space such as a museum, a cultural center, or a gallery. In the case of a private collection, the complement to the deposit is a domestic space with restricted access such as a house, an apartment, or an office.

Monumental forms and bold shapes fill the double-height interior. Framing the space are four massive 22-foot-tall columns. Each is complemented by a unique combination of small engaged columns. Together, their undulating vertical profiles accentuate the café’s lofty proportions.
