Szoke House is located on the southern slopes of Monte Abantos, at San Lorenzo de El Escorial, a small town close to the city of Madrid. Monte Abantos is full of pine trees and stands out for its unevenness and its rocky areas. The aim of the project is to ensure that the house blends with the natural environment it settles in and to make the most out of the landscape around it: La Herrería forest to the southwest and the Royal Site of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, a basilica and royal palace from the 16th century to the east.

TT Residence is the family house that illustrates adaptation between Classical and Modern architecture which is purposely designed to last durably in the tropical climate country, of Bangkok, Thailand. All is presented since masterplan, layout, and architectural presences. Although classical architecture is an initial idea from the owners, who admire the scale and proportion of the classical buildings the most, in believing that orders can represent their business status, modern contemporary architecture offers this project tools to tackle design problems caused by differences between architectural styles and contexts.

The Höghult house is a part of a large estate with several old buildings in the middle of the Swedish landscape with old farms, large fields, and endless views over the green forest. The site is steep, with the building on the very top, overlooking the forest and an adjacent lake. The building consists of two equally sized volumes, one closed horizontal timber part, and one open timber framing part. In the closed volume there is a sauna, shower, and bedroom. In the other one, there is a large open room and on both sides of it there is an open patio.

The site is located near the Laguna del Sauce, Maldonado, and had an abandoned construction that was previously used for the storage of forage and field tools. The construction had been executed in traditional construction and although it was in disuse, a large part of its structure was in a good state of conservation. The client, who was based in France, called us to carry out an intervention that would transform this construction into his second residence, which would be used in those moments when they visited Uruguay.

Domesticated Square Apartment / l´atelier Nomadic Architecture Studio

Berlin’s urban condition of housing is mostly defined by “Altbau” and “Plattenbau”. The Atlbau is the classical architecture from the late 19th century with high ceilings, thick bearing walls and a structure of large corridors and passages with non-hierarchical rooms. The Plattenbau is the post-war architecture housing bloc, with rational and orthogonal shapes. The biggest advantage of the Plattenbau is that there are, in most of the cases, no structuring walls in the spaces, which gives the opportunity for a blank page for a renovation.

The project “you my roof” proposes clarifying the existing school complex by establishing a triple gym and a school building of 15 classes. Their successive establishments will make it possible to define a central courtyard for all. The characteristic shape of the roofs brings coherence to the heterogeneous composition of the existing complex and the neighboring villas.

Yellow Foot Residential Building / OA-Lab

Open boundaries for communications with neighborhood – “Yellow Foot” is an apartment project located in the mid-size residential district of Seocho-dong in Seoul, Korea. This type of neighborhood is densely packed with small and middle-sized housing and accounts for about 40% of the total population of Seoul. Here, it is typical that buildings are surrounded by either blocking walls or parking lots along the streets without respecting pedestrians. There is no idea of public spaces and activities, so buildings are isolated from the streets behind walls and parking lots. In this situation, the “Yellow Foot” apartment is intended as an attempt to create open and engaging relationships between the private and public.
