‘Threshold and Treasure’ questions the role of threshold and treasure in art, architecture, and, more specifically, galleries as places of display. It is precisely in the space of the threshold that the meaning of the entire project unfolds: thus, the entrance becomes both work of art and an urban system.

A new national Center for handcraft, art, and design, a renewed vision above the art of design, handcraft, and culture of Cabo Verde in the city of Mindelo. The museum project was born out of a visionary dream. In an informal conversation with the director of the Centro Nacional de Artesanato e Design in Mindelo, he asked us if we had an idea for that space – an old colonial house with a patio and an old building on the rear. We answered him with the idea of a new iconic building, a museum. From then on, it was his energy and our vision, and the commitment from both sides, with support and total financing of the government.

Zibo OCT Art Center, an introverted experimental work, is in an open area far away from the city. Its architectural form is conceived from the traditional Chinese academy-“Heyuan”, a central courtyard surrounded by several houses.

A dredger-ship moored in Zapyškis (Kaunas district, Lithuania) can no longer be used for its intended purpose due to outdated technology that is harmful to the river ecosystem. The team’s goal here was to use it as an exhibit and at the same time create a space with a new function. Thus, the culture ship ‘Nemuno 7’ was born. It houses an interdisciplinary arts center that offers exhibitions, a park on the water, artists’ residences, and other cultural activities. The deck of the ship is planted with various types of pioneer plants. Their integration was one of the key elements of the ship’s transformation. 

The art gallery Kraupa-Tuskany Zeidler in Berlin outgrew its small space where it started as a young business wanting something more serious but at the same time still experimental for its new location.

What does the village look like? What does the village itself want to be? When modern architecture enters the traditional village, the unusual form brings connection and conflict, and the simple volume and space inherit the unchanging temperament.

An Art Collector’s gallery in Chiang Mai, Northern Thailand consisting of several interior pavilions enclosed by intricate gardens with exterior sculptures and ornate water features. Enter projects Asia was commissioned to design the display of bespoke artworks, using all-natural materials. The international collection of silverware, fine china, and porcelain includes the largest Wedgwood collection in Southeast Asia. The owner and avid collector sought to contextualize a lifelong ambition to exhibit the treasures gathered over a 50-year period. Traditionally a clinical space in which art objects meet an audience, Enter Projects Asia was challenged to bring life to the gallery, with zoning, lighting, and seating in their signature style blending 3D geometries with traditional Thai craftsmanship. “We sought to create an immersive experience, giving the space a warmth and depth uncharacteristic of conventional art galleries” states Patrick Keane, Enter Projects Asia Director.

Flowers / Leaves / Fruits. Flowers, leaves, and fruits are the forms that are created when plants are nurtured by the blessings of the earth and sunlight. Little Witch Lab is a gallery that exhibits the work of Mutsumi Fujimoto, an accessory artist who uses a unique technique to contain that momentary beauty and sublimate it into a permanent beauty that does not change over time, like a jewel worn by a human being. It will be the atelier of Mutsumi Fujimoto and a gallery to exhibit her works. She chose Tokaichi in Naka-ku, Hiroshima City. The building is located where the old Ota River, which flows through the city and leads to Hiroshima Bay, meets the long-established Kusayo Inou Shrine. The location is both dignified and quiet, and the time passes slowly, making it a wonderful place in the city.
