Gordon Gallery Jerusalem / Salty Architects

February 24, 2022 Hana Abdel 0

The Gordon Gallery’s new Jerusalem venue is an unusual step and the first time that a Tel Aviv-based gallery—one of the oldest and most successful— opens an additional venue in Israel’s capital. Gordon Gallery was established in Tel Aviv in 1966 by Yeshayahu (Shaya) Yariv. The new venue is located in the Sapir Center industrial area, in the city’s southwest, an area reminiscent of the Tel Aviv’s Kiryat Hamelacha, which has long been a pilgrimage site for art lovers. It is an area steeped in large industrial buildings, mostly housing light industry, but also several artist studios, yeshivas, as well as Bezalel Academy’s ultra-Orthodox branch Oman, located next door to the new gallery, on the third floor of building number 3.

Doozy Access Art Gallery / FAR WORKSHOP

January 27, 2022 Xiaohang Hou 0

We were commissioned by Doozy Access gallery to reshape an industry warehouse located next to Longwu Road in Shanghai. At the same time artist group, Martin Goya Business was invited during the renovation to experimentally curate a first art show on the construction site. This is a warehouse renovation project with an area of 500 square meters. The existing warehouse used to be a glass production factory with two massive concrete beam rows sitting along with the building internally. Similar to most of the factories pursuing spatial efficiency and economy, the facade of the building reflects its internal rhythm by repeating window frames in each bay. In this project, however, we attempt to disturb such rhythm by weaving completely different spatial language into it and making the facade fragmentally, incompletely, and bizarrely. Three spatial objects are designed to insert into the existing facade. We deliberately make the language of these objects inconsistent but spatially connected in narrative with the internal stage (exhibition hall) and ‘black

Iron Tea Room / Fujiwaramuro Architects

January 21, 2022 Andreas Luco 0

Iron Tea Room. The Iron Tea Room is located in the Tokyo offices and gallery of Charley, a company that designs and sells zakka, which might be loosely defined as everyday items with style. The tea room includes a seventeen-meter-long table placed in front of a long, folding room partition printed with images from Hasegawa Tohaku’s Pine Trees screen. Although the client did not directly bring up zakka or Japanese style in discussions, we felt that these were the themes of the gallery and therefore incorporated them into our design proposal.

SeoulTech Arch Gallery / Yong Ju Lee Architecture

January 12, 2022 Hana Abdel 0

This gallery is located at the Mugung Hall in Seoul National University of Science and Technology. This building has been used for architecture students and faculty members, but it did not have enough space for the presentation and exhibition, essential to this major. Thus the corner area in lobby space on the 1st floor, which was usually used for this purpose, is renovated into a new galley.

The most recent project in Beigou, WAAAM (originally named the Glazed-Tile Art. Architecture Museum), is a testament to the broad and meaningful impact that rural revitalization has brought to the community. The museum is designed to commemorate the pioneering attitude of Beigou. A daring community that challenged itself with reinventing the concept of the rural village through environmental development, art installations, and architectural interventions.

Gallery 90220 / Gensler

January 1, 2022 Paula Pintos 0

Gallery 90220 provided the unique opportunity for Gensler and Sola Impact to work for hand and hand on realizing the overall vision of creating a truly community-centric space, with many custom features. These details were crucial to solving really complex issues in a low-tech or budget-friendly way. One example is the storage wall, which might otherwise be an uninteresting detail, became an opportunity to create a dynamic solution.

Both the architectural form and the natural form must follow the physical laws, which are expressed on the basis of the “Truth” and “Beauty” of the form, the relationship between function and form, and the unified principles and laws that can be pursued.Human aesthetic feeling is based on the reality of nature, therefore, beauty and truth are inseparable.
