After living in multiple regions of Brazil and abroad, Natalia decided to create her nest at Chapada dos Veadeiros, in the state of Goias. After 4 years of living in the rural town of Cavalcante, adjacent to the Chapada dos Veadeiros National Park, the idea of a home in direct contact with nature made a lot of sense. She chose a steep lot with views of the Santana Hills and named it Aruak – an homage to the indigenous people from which the family descends.

Sculpted by the lagging and constant action of Bahia’s waters, Trancoso’s sea scarps stand before alluring beaches and their vivid colors. Vista House lays on top of one of them; a 46 meters high cliff. From a bird’s perspective, the elongated volume aims to frame the landscape like a wide-angle camera.

This small 30-sq meter space, located in Brasília, Brazil, was designed to house the graphic design practice, “Home Studio”. As its name suggests, the boutique studio proposes a more intimate and casual relationship with clients and the work environment should evoke the relaxed and cozy atmosphere we find in our own homes.

How could someone live near an immense and majestic mountain and not pay homage to it, or never mind its size and shape? 

The site on which the project is implemented is characterized by the remarkable presence of a tree massif with vegetation of different sizes and varieties. Previously, it housed the party and social room of the allotment in which it is located, leaving some stones of this history as an inheritance, complemented and regrouped, reorganizing and preparing the territory to accommodate a new house. It has a slight slope to the northeast, towards a permanent preservation area that contains a lake, floodplain, and large native trees, contiguous to the site. The beauty of the site determined the project and the house developed itself in an intimate relationship with the topography and landscape.

Set among the Araucaria trees, surrounded by farm animals, the greenhouse was designed so that the family could care for the plants, play games and spend time together in a single space.

A 2,000m² site in São Paulo, was the place chosen to house the meeting point of the family nucleus that sought out the office to carry out the mission of building the 1,086m² residence.
