June 21, 2023 Hadir Al Koshta 0

This solid wood house for a young family was built on a steep slope in the Styrian Thermal Region. Deep black on the outside, the contrast surprises as soon as you step inside: airy, bright, with lots of light from the sides and from above. The house fits in harmoniously with its surroundings.

Hidden Garden House / Sam Crawford Architects

Our client’s brief was to alter their house to provide them with light and warm spaces, passively heated and cooled. They wanted quality over quantity, improved functionality, and low maintenance. The original house was built in the 1980s and then extended in the late 1990s. It required radical surgery. The ground floor was damp, dark, and cold, and the upper floor was hot and leaky.

June 20, 2023 Hadir Al Koshta 0

Company headquarters and operating facility in timber construction – In an ordinary industrial park south of Stuttgart, rundzwei Architekten BDA have designed an unusual headquarters and operating facility in timber construction. The translucent, all-round canopy made of carbonized larch wood – the eponymous “wooden hat” – protects against the weather and gives the building its characteristic shape. “When a long-established family business builds anew, things don’t always have to stay the same.” (Architect Marc Dufour-Feronce) Hald & Grunewald specializes in the sale and rental of forklifts, telescopic handlers, work platforms, and container solutions. Training, maintenance, and repairs are also part of the offer. Around 90 employees work at the new main location in Ergenzingen, between Schönbuch, the northern Black Forest, and the Swabian Alb. The aim of the project was to bundle all the company’s functions in one location. At the beginning of the project, the architects analyzed and optimized the existing workflows together with the employees. The aim was to “rethink” the long-established family business, to question old structures, and to create a contemporary commercial building with optimal workflows and quality of space for all user groups.

Eyemouth Pavilions is a new public anchor at the heart of the Scottish fishing town Eyemouth. It is also an opportunity to reinvent the wider harbor area and create a new type of civic space. We were inspired by the strong authenticity of the working Harbour and Conservation Area, and the harbour’s active transformation towards a new sustainable marine economy. The project consists of a series of pavilions with winter gardens on the ground floor for community use, and self-contained studios for start-up entrepreneurs on the first floor. The first south pavilion is now completed.

Funerals and grief are full of emotions. We often face the cemetery, the last place we say farewell to our family with fear. What kind of architecture will be able to drive away the fear, bear the emptiness of emotion and memory, and at the same time be a space for us to settle down and recollect the past? We need a carrier for grief and loss, it does not mean what we left behind after we passed, but it meant what kind of space encourages us to face our past.

Half is More – A House in Progress / Atelier Shantanu Autade + Studio Boxx

The proposed house is in the village of Dhotre near Kopargaon, Maharashtra. This house started with studies on the rural economy of Maharashtra, where studies show a great fall in rural economic growth for many years. Farmers don’t get an assurance of earning after harvesting. This house handles an issue of rural economy and house. The proposed built form is an experiment to explore the idea of expanding the house. This resembles with farmer’s attitude, where he compromises on essential things because of uncertainty and tends to complete them partly.

Three buildings, three functions – Located at the corner of Avenue Guy-Môquet and Rue du Colonel-Fabien, the project consists of three separate buildings that can function independently. The main entrances to the educational building and the gymnasium are located on Mail Yvonne-Hagnauer, a recently opened pedestrian area by the municipality of Valenton between Rue du 8-Mai-1945 and Rue du Colonel-Fabien. This space is protected from car traffic, providing a calm and secure environment for students and families. The six staff accommodations (double or triple-oriented T5 apartments) are located to the north of the plot, connected to the residential fabric of the neighborhood. They face Avenue Guy-Môquet, allowing occupants to disconnect from their professional environment.
