Situated within a 32-acre university campus, the main administration offices, along with an auditorium, seminar halls, library, and cafeteria, form the functions of this building. As opposed to creating an imposing edifice, the building gradually steps up from the approach direction, belying its 28 metre height, becoming a multifunctional stage.
Updated renderings for Two World Trade Center, the final commercial tower planned for the World Trade Center campus in Lower Manhattan, have been unveiled by Foster + Partners in collaboration with developer Silverstein Properties. Rising 373 meters at 200 Greenwich Street, the 55-story skyscraper will occupy a central position within the site, directly across from Santiago Calatrava’s Oculus transportation hub and adjacent to the Perelman Performing Arts Center, completing the commercial edge of the master plan. The tower is set to become the new global headquarters of American Express, which will serve as the building’s sole owner and occupant. Completion is currently anticipated in 2031, with construction scheduled to begin in spring 2026.
Perched along the rugged coastline of Hermanus, Coastal Dwelling is conceived as an architecture anchored in geology and horizon. Set on a slender 15 x 40 meter site framed by mountain backdrop and southern ocean views, the project responds directly to its elemental context.
On February 20, Renzo Piano Building Workshop announced that the building permit for the Hôpital Universitaire Saint-Ouen Grand Paris Nord (HUSOGPN) has been officially granted. The project is a state initiative responding to rapid population growth, increasing demand for care, and evolving technical standards with a “next-generation” hospital in Saint-Ouen-sur-Seine, a commune in the northern suburbs of the French capital. The hospital will be located on the site of the former PSA factory, once an industrial engine of the region and now large and well-connected enough to host a program of rare scale: 986 beds and 288 day places, a workforce of over 5,500 professionals, and facilities equipped with contemporary technology for areas such as surgery and maternity. Envisioned as a “hospital-landscape,” the building designed by RPBW in association with Brunet Saunier & Associés stands out for featuring a 1.3-hectare roof garden and an urban forest with over 1,000 trees.

Bamboo, brick, wood, and concrete appear across regions, connecting climate, labor, and culture in ways that ensure their persistence through generations. Their continuity does not depend solely on preservation or heritage. It depends on use.

Wave Imaginary — Whether in literature or science, waves are both ubiquitous and mysterious. In the everyday environment of Earth, only a few visible continuous media generate observable waves, such as water waves, while experiences at the human scale are even rarer, with surfers being among the few who can enter the interior of ocean waves. As a man-made structure, architecture is formed through static systems that create fixed spaces to meet human needs for activities and rest within flat surfaces. Consequently, it is challenging to draw direct comparisons with dynamic systems like waves. Only fixed locations such as skateboarding pools provide an experience of dynamic undulation. In recent works by Scenic Architecture Office, the focus has consistently been on three directions: “courtyard settlement,” “extension of homes,” and “free cell.” Among these, “free cell” explore new architectural forms through the integration of technology and spatial experience. The continuous undulation of mountains and waters, the traditional clustering of architectural rooftops, the reproduction of cells, and the transmission of information all share a morphological connection to waves. We have been continuously thinking whether the morphology of waves could offer further insights for the future of architecture. The “Wave Cube” project by Jin Hai Lake has provided us with a rare opportunity for exploration.
This project involved the renovation of a private lodging facility located in a quiet residential area of Miyakojima, Osaka. The client—who operates diversified businesses including residential development, furniture manufacturing, café management, and hospitality—sought to increase the occupancy rate of this property, which had already been operating as one of their lodging facilities, by better appealing to international travelers.
