Industrial Loft II / Diego Revollo Arquitetura

October 15, 2018 Daniel Tapia 0

This 100 m2 Loft with structure and apparent installations is located in the noble neighborhood of Morumbi, in São Paulo. Although the aesthetic appeal of New York sheds converted into housing in the 1970s is the main justification for the male audience in explaining their desire for this style of property, Diego Revollo, who is knowledgeable about this repertoire and with some other lofts in his portfolio, knows that this profile prioritizes good materials and functionality.

House in Palacio / Ideo arquitectura

October 12, 2018 Daniel Tapia 0

This housing forms a part of a former palace in the heart of Madrid constructed in the middle of the 18th century. Before the reform, the high ceilings, the massive walls and the structure of wood, they were remaining hidden by an endless number of partitions that were dividing in excess the space. The aim of our intervention has been to open the housing in its entirety. Eliminating all the walls and the false ceilings, we have obtained a wide and fluid space that recovers the lordly aspect that had in his moment. Lounge, dining room and kitchen join in one space. The distribution of the latter develops about a black island that, for his scale and dimensions, looks like a sculpture carved in granite.

Salt and Pepper House / Kube Architecture

October 11, 2018 Pilar Caballero 0

The Owners, a couple in their mid-70’s, purchased this home to start their lives together. They got engaged after they bought the house, and got married in the house while it was under construction. They love to cook and collect art, so the palette of white walls and black steel is both a metaphor for salt and pepper, as well as a setting for framing their artwork. Pops of color highlight the colors in their art collection.

CABB Auditorium / GRHOUND OFFICE

October 11, 2018 Daniel Tapia 0

The project of the Auditorium of the CABB resulted from a request to renovate a large disused space on the first floor of a neo-academic heritage building in the city of Bahia Blanca. It had been recently acquired by the College and had functioned as the headquarters of the newspaper ‘The New Province’ since the beginning of the twentieth century. A new wooden-paneled frame was introduced inside the masonry frame, twice the pre-existing height, to form a double cavity. The new prism created was adjusted in proportion to the overall structure, thereby managing to correct the dimensional irregularities of the original wall face. A mezzanine floor with independent access overlooks the main hall from the balcony.

NUB / Amunt

October 11, 2018 Daniel Tapia 0

After a long search, a couple with two children purchased a townhouse in a workers’ housing estate in Stuttgart. The house – which originally dates from the 1930s and was reconstructed in the 1950s – is built on a sloping site typical for Stuttgart. With its small, roughly square plan of 6.85 x 7.30 meters, it rises like a tower four stories above the property. The house is entered from a small front yard on the north side. The ground floor was too small to accommodate a kitchen, living room, and dining area for the family and also had no direct access to the garden on the south side.
