Super 18 Apartment / Hyper + Simon Henry

May 27, 2023 Hadir Al Koshta 0

The project concerns the transformation of a 45m2 apartment on the 12th floor of the Boucry Tower (named Super 18 at its delivery), a discreet icon of north-eastern Paris. Built by Jean-Robert Delb in 1974 on the edge of the Plaine Saint-Denis, it is almost invisible in the Parisian skyline and can only be seen from the main infrastructural axes. A true reduction of the metropolis by the diversity of the households it contains and its programmatic diversity is an example of the successful integration of high-rise buildings into the city.

A doctor couple who wanted to leave the hustle and bustle of Chennai city bought a 2 Acre parcel of land in the outskirts of the city. The clients approached us with a clear brief of having a 2-bedroom house, with vernacular building elements incorporated. Our intention was to create a sense of nostalgia but to also make sure that the design was modern and timeless.

The structure, however, was deteriorating with time, and its purposes have evolved in accordance with the changing way of life. The factory has now been turned into a co-working space, complete with a coffee shop, meeting areas, and timber workshops while retaining the original architectural sense of being a father’s wooden lathe soul.

The house is located along the main roads of Can Tho City and is the accommodation of a three-generation family (the culture of “tam đại đồng đường” – three generations living under the same roof). Cabin House / Taliesyn Design & Architecture

May 21, 2023 Hadir Al Koshta 0

Catapulted from an inclination to retreat from urban realities, The Cabin House swiftly transforms the pre-pandemic notion of our dwellings. Embracing a quiet reflection of modern lifestyle and vernacular nuances, the design for the 349 sqm (3800 sqft) plot has been developed from a simple brief of experiencing nature at close quarters. Nestled in the lush greenery of South Bangalore, resides the one-bedroom weekend home for a family of three. One is immediately greeted by the large foliage of the jackfruit and mango trees, where the rectangular dwelling sits along the East-West axis. The ground floor punctuates the rigid walls on the longer side to encompass 5m (18ft) pivoted doors on either side to blur the boundaries between the landscape and the residence.
