In Copenhagen, Amager, you find a large suburban area of villas. Here, a grandmother moved into the house of her daughter. By selling her previous home, it became possible to finance the construction of a small extension to the daughter’s house. This project is a weekend house in the mountains of the Sierra de Arteaga, in the state of Coahuila in northern Mexico. The house is laid out on the slope of an old orchard in mountainous surroundings, to have minimal impact on the site and natural vegetation. This solution also ensured the best views, as the orchard vegetation is much more open and lower than the surrounding forest.

An in-depth analysis of the brief and the client’s requirements, together with an appreciation of the climatic and cultural heritage of Qatar, formed the basis of the design. The seating bowl is expressed externally as a burnished golden vessel, which sparkles against the sunlight. The façade features triangular openings that visually reinforce the bowl’s structural diagrid and form a perforated screen to provide shade and filter dappled light onto the internal concourses. The high-performance façades and an innovative roof design reduce the stadium’s energy consumption. Outdoor cooling technologies are used to maximize comfort within the open-air stadium. Four years after designing their first-ever flagship store in Shanghai, Neri&Hu again collaborates with Jisifang to create a duo of shops in the Panlong Tiandi development. The two adjacent spaces, one for Jisifang Boutique and the other for its sister brand Woven Moonlight, are each unique, yet share a common dialogue. Jisifang Boutique contains a wooden house, while Woven Moonlight is a concrete dwelling, each is tailored to its distinct brand identities and varying spatial requirements.
