Cork House is the first of its kind, with monolithic walls and corbelled roof pyramids made almost entirely from solid load-bearing cork.  Its distinctive structural form and rich sensory environments are the results of a whole life approach to architecture, in which environmental sustainability is embedded into every stage of a building’s lifecycle. With a focus on what is solid, simple, and sustainable, the project is an inventive response to the complexities and conventions of modern house construction.

If the utility of a space is settled by the objects in it, then the quincho is a space with a barbecue and a table. In this quincho, the barbecue and the table are the prolongation of one onto the other, translated in a sculptural concrete-on-sight made object, which is the only element that shows the reason of the construction.

“Architecture is the learned game, correct and magnificent, of forms assembled in the light.” (Le Corbusier) The Swiss-French modern architect tells us that “our eyes are made for the forms under the light; the shadows and the clearings reveal as forms; the cubes, cones, spheres, cylinders or pyramids are like great shapes that light reveals well; Your images are not clear and tangible, unambiguous. It’s how it looks beautiful”. In the same way, the design of Cucina Pietra exists by itself. It is an act of ordenation in which the friction between points, planes and environment is conceived in a complementary and inseparable way. Its ponctuated interventions appear in silence, as a deep and rigorous instrument of representation of matter and forms.
